Anthony Jones

CEO, HW Richardson Group Limited

Anthony is CEO of HW Richardson Group Limited (HWR), a large Southland-based transport company with operations across New Zealand and Australia covering Fuel distribution, Readymix Concrete, Road Transport, Civil Construction and Property sectors. HWR is a family owned operation, with over 2000 employees and more than 1,200 heavy vehicles and machinery at its core.

Prior to joining HWR, Anthony was CEO of LINX Cargo Care Group, an Australian logistics infrastructure and solutions giant that operates across the transport industry and employs more than 3300 people on both sides of the Tasman.

HWR is revolutionizing New Zealand's heavy transport sector through its innovative hydrogen initiative. The company’s dual-fuel program, integrating hydrogen with existing diesel engines, significantly reduces carbon emissions while protecting the value of existing assets, and provides a pathway for the heavy transport industry to transition towards cleaner energy while developing a practical demand for future fuels and the ability for suppliers to invest into future fuel production. This technology has now progressed passed a rigorous testing phase and is available to be purchased in the New Zealand and International markets, with full compliance sign off received from NZTA. Results of the testing program showed an average offset of diesel and therefore reduction of carbon emissions from heavy vehicles of 35%, with no loss of payload or range anxiety. It is a technology for now, to enable tomorrow at a fraction of the cost of other transport decarbonization options.

Anthony continues to be a champion for heavy industry decarbonization, advocating for practical solutions where both the private sector and Government can partner to speed the change to low and no carbon solutions in an economically sustainable way.

Anthony is also a director on the NZ Hydrogen Council.
